Lighting design

LIGHTING IS EVERYTHING

Lighting design is the most important design feature of any project. It provides effects that cannot be achieved by any other means. To create the perfect balance between lighting and architecture, our in-house lighting designer adheres to three principles: Aesthetics, Functionality, and Efficiency.

Three principles of lighting design

Lighting placement and selection completely transforms the shape and style of any project

AESTHETICS

Aesthetics focus on the emotional impact the balance of lighting and architecture will have on its occupants. How do you want people to feel when they walk around the space? This is especially important in retail applications; lighting is proven to drastically affect the average dollar amount spent by the consumer.

Functionality

Functionality is essential. The biological and physical effects of lighting impact the health and wellbeing of the person occupying the space. Light can increase or decrease a worker’s productivity. The space should be illuminated so the occupant can easily see when navigating the entire building and they should feel safe when doing so.

Efficiency

Efficiency is paramount in today’s age of eco-friendly building and sustainability campaigns. It’s one thing to create a stunning lighting layout, but it’s quite another to create a stunning lighting layout that is also incredibly energy efficient. Choosing LED technology reduces energy consumption and emits uniform light without glare providing energy efficiency, versatility, and reliability.

9 Steps to Lighting Success

1. DEFINE project scope, identify requirements, and set a budget
2. EVALUATE the project site
3. DETERMINE the method of lighting
4. SELECT the lighting equipment
5. CALCULATE the lighting parameters, provide materials quotations, safety, and energy calculations adhering to state and local codes
6. DESIGNATE the control system needed
7. CHOOSE the best luminaire for the project
8. DESIGN and present the lighting plan
9. FOLLOW-UP to obtain feedback after the project is completed
